Bulk SMS for retail shops in Nepal

A retail shop can text customers about festival offers, new stock, order pickups and loyalty points. Offers are advertising, so collect each customer's consent before sending them, as Nepal's Advertisement (Regulation) Act 2076 requires. Order-ready and pickup messages are transactional on a plain reading. One account reaches customers on NTC, Ncell and Smart Telecom.

What SMS messages can a retail shop send?

Shops send festival and seasonal offers, new arrival notices, loyalty point balances, order-ready and alteration-ready alerts, and changes to opening hours. Promotions work when they give a reason to visit soon and a clear way to claim the offer. Pickup alerts work when they say what is ready, where and until when.

Example message

Dashain offer: Rs 500 off on purchases above Rs 3,000 at our store until Sunday. Show this SMS at the counter. To stop offers, tell our staff.

Do I need consent to send offers to shop customers?

Yes. Offers and discounts are advertising, and the Advertisement (Regulation) Act 2076 says advertising may not be sent by SMS without the recipient's consent, with fines up to NPR 100,000. Ask at the counter or on your order form, record the answer, and include a way to stop offers. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can a shop send SMS in Nepali?

Yes. Nepali (Devanagari) is supported, and many customers read it more comfortably than English. A Nepali message holds 70 characters in one segment, compared with 160 for plain English text, so write short Nepali messages to keep each customer at one credit. Romanized Nepali in Latin letters counts as plain text.

Example message

तपाईंको अर्डर तयार छ। पसलबाट आज बेलुकासम्म लैजानुहोला।

Can SMS show my shop's name as the sender?

Yes, once approved. Request a branded alphanumeric sender ID of up to 11 characters from the dashboard, such as your shop name or a short form of it. Until it is approved for your account, messages go out under a shared default sender ID, so start each message with the shop's name.

How does a shop start sending SMS?

Fill in the lead form on the contact page, then open an account and complete KYC with personal or business documents. A reviewer approves it, usually within 2 to 3 business days. There is no monthly fee or setup fee, so a shop can buy credit for one festival campaign and send nothing in between.
