How is the cost of a bulk SMS campaign calculated?
Multiply the number of recipients by the segments in your message, then by the rate for your monthly volume, and add 13% VAT. A message of up to 160 English characters is one segment. A Nepali message of up to 70 characters is one segment. Longer messages use more.
- 5,000 recipients, one English segment, at NPR 0.90: NPR 4,500.00 ex VAT, NPR 5,085.00 with VAT.
- 20,000 recipients, one segment, at NPR 0.85: NPR 17,000.00 ex VAT, NPR 19,210.00 with VAT.
- 10,000 recipients, a two-segment Nepali message (20,000 credits) at NPR 0.85: NPR 17,000.00 ex VAT, NPR 19,210.00 with VAT.
- 250,000 recipients, one segment, at NPR 0.60: NPR 150,000.00 ex VAT, NPR 169,500.00 with VAT.
Are there any fees besides the per-SMS rate?
No. There is no monthly fee, no setup fee and no contract. You buy SMS credits and each delivered segment uses one. The only addition is 13% VAT on the invoice. Sender ID requests, the dashboard, delivery reports and API access come with the account.
- Included at every tier: a delivery status on every message, in the dashboard and the API.
- Delivery to NTC, Ncell and Smart Telecom numbers, in English or Nepali.
- A branded sender ID of up to 11 characters, once approved.
- REST API with signed delivery webhooks, up to 1,000 recipients per request.
- Credits for failed messages refunded to your balance.
What happens to credits when a message fails?
Credits for a failed message are refunded to your balance. Each message carries a status of queued, sent, delivered, undelivered or failed, so you can check which numbers did not receive it and decide whether to resend or clean your list.
Why does a Nepali message cost more than an English one?
Nepali uses Unicode, which fits 70 characters in one segment instead of 160. A Nepali message longer than 70 characters splits into 67-character segments, and each segment is one credit. Keeping Nepali notices short, or sending a short English version, keeps the credit count down.
