What SMS messages does an online store send?
Stores send OTP codes for login and checkout, order confirmations with the amount due, dispatch and out-for-delivery notices, failed delivery follow-ups and return or refund updates. Each is triggered by an event in your system and sent through the API. Cash-on-delivery customers in particular benefit from knowing the amount and day in advance.
Order #48213 confirmed. Total Rs 2,450, cash on delivery. We will send another SMS when it leaves our warehouse.
How does a store connect to the SMS API?
Your server sends a JSON request with one API key in a header. Keys can be scoped, for example send-only, and belong on the server, never in browser or app code. Add an idempotency key per order event so a retried request sends once. A send returns 202 with a batch id and the cost.
Your order #48213 is out for delivery today. Please keep Rs 2,450 ready. The rider will call before arriving.
How do I know an order SMS was delivered?
Every message carries a status: QUEUED, SENT, DELIVERED, UNDELIVERED or FAILED, visible in the dashboard and through the API. Set a callback URL to receive a signed webhook on delivered or failed, checked with HMAC-SHA256 and your account secret. Credits for a failed message are refunded, so you are not charged for it.
Do order and promotional SMS follow different rules?
Yes. OTP codes, order confirmations and delivery alerts relate to a purchase the customer made, so on a plain reading they are transactional. Sale announcements and discount codes are advertising and need the recipient's consent under the Advertisement (Regulation) Act 2076. Keep offers out of order messages. This is general information, not legal advice.
How does an online store get started?
Fill in the lead form on the contact page, complete KYC with business documents and wait for approval, usually 2 to 3 business days. Request a sender ID of up to 11 characters from the dashboard; until it is approved, messages use a shared default sender ID. Then connect your store using the API base URL provided with your account.
